The Municipality is located about fifty kilometers southeast of Montreal, near the Yamaska River. Formerly, the place was identified under the name of Burtonville, attributed by Lord Pierre-Dominique Debartzch (1782-1846), in memory of his English friend Burton, member of the Provincial Parliament.
