The first inhabitants of Saint-Ferréol-les-Neiges settled there in 1730. Established on the lands of the Seigneurie de Beaupré, which belonged to the Séminaire de Québec, the village owes its name to Jean Lyon Saint-Ferréol, then superior of the Seminar.

It was on July 1, 1855 that the “Municipality of the parish of Saint-Ferréol” was constituted. In 1969, the words "les-Neiges" were added to the name to highlight the economic prosperity brought by skiers who came to enjoy the snow of Mont-Sainte-Anne.

The feast of Saint-Ferréol, martyr, is September 18. To find out more, consult the section The municipality and its history.

The coat of arms of Saint-Ferréol-les-Neiges was designed by Father Léonard Bouchard. It was Father Lucien Godbout, of the Petit Séminaire de Québec, who erected and designed them on April 6, 1971. The French shape of the shield indicates the French origin of those who founded this parish.

The red and gold colors recall those of the Petit Séminaire de Québec where one of the priests, Louis Soumande, originally identified the cultivable land of Saint-Ferréol. These are also the colors of Monsignor de Laval, who participated in the first developments in our part of the country.

The star above the mount symbolizes faith and the ideal of life. It also represents a crystal of snow, a reference to the name "Saint-Ferréol-les-Neiges".

The mountain evokes the proximity of Mont-Sainte-Anne. Since its opening in 1966, it has been a key element that distinguishes the municipality. The three slopes and the crossed skis underline the unique character of this ski center.

Traced in broken lines, the three slopes are also reminiscent of three major waterfalls in Saint-Ferréol-les-Neiges: Sainte-Anne waterfall, Larose waterfall and Sept-Chutes.

These waterways evoke the recreational tourism character of the municipality, just like the maple leaf (the forest), the plume (wildlife and game), the fish (sport fishing) and the tent (lodging, hospitality) .
