The municipality of the Township of Gore was founded in 1840. This small township was formerly considered to be mainly a vacation area, but gradually it has become an excellent place to live on a permanent basis. Our permanent population is steadily increasing and sits now at 1965 persons. The seasonal population is estimated at over 4000. Gore is the municipality with the highest growing rate in the MRC of Argenteuil.
