Val-d'Or was born thanks to the first discoveries of gold made around the Demontigny and Blouin lakes at the beginning of the 20th century. Several prospectors come to try their luck in the Valdorian region with rumors of rich gold deposits. Some will fall on promising veins which will form the Lamaque mines (Robert C. Clark, 1923), Sigma (Heber Bambrick, 1933) Siscoe (Stanley Siscoe, 1915), Sullivan (Hertel Authier and James O'Sullivan, 1911) and many others . These different discoveries attract other people who dream of quick wealth, but especially of what the opening of future mines represents.
