The Municipality of Saint-Pacôme is, according to many, the small "Swiss village" of Quebec and its site has something to surprise and seduce the many image hunters by the beauty of its landscapes, by the meanders of the Ouelle river which crosses throughout its territory and by the outline of its topography.
The settlement of New France passed through the seigneurial system and the development of the Côte-du-Sud was no exception to the rule. In the 19th century, the parishes broke up due to the intensive occupation of the territory, mainly due to the high birth rate.
In the seigneury of Bouteillerie de la Rivière-Ouelle, the seigneurs began to grant the 3rd, 4th and 5th ranks around 1780 until 1814 and beyond. Before emigrating the settlers to the east, they are pushed inland. Saint-Pacôme, the Côte des Beaux-Biens (Saint-Philippe-de-Néri), and even Saint-Gabriel-Lalemant began to be inhabited around the turn of the century. Before that date, the history of Saint-Pacôme was identified with the history of Rivière-Ouelle, since its territory was entirely located within the seigneury concession.
