The Val-d’Or Foreurs have been part of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League since the 1993 season. The builders who gave themselves body and soul for the Foreurs to come to Val-d’Or fought for sixteen years before reaching the ultimate goal: getting the Foreurs team in Val-d’Or. Just like the Foreurs players, these men and women have distinguished themselves by their passion, pride, perseverance, intensity and work ethic. The first game in franchise history was held in Shawinigan on September 9 of the same year against the Cataractes.
With three President’s Cup championships (1998-2001-2014) and as many participations in Memorial Cup tournaments, the Val-d’Or Foreurs quickly built a tradition of winners. In 2001, at the Memorial Cup Tournament, the Foreurs lost in the grand final against the Red Deer Rebels and in 2014, it was in the semifinals, against those who would become Canadian champions, the Oil Kings. Edmonton that the Foreurs had to abdicate in the 3rd overtime period.
In summary, the Foreurs are 3 championships, more than 800 victories through the seasons and a total of more than 6,600 goals scored since their arrival in the QMJHL in 1993.
