The territory of Témiscamingue is distinguished by the immensity and beauty of its natural landscapes, but also by the unique development that its population has made of it.

The Versants du Témiscamingue are distinguished by agroforestry landscapes as well as by wide visual fields. To the south, there is a mixed forest, where yellow birch predominates over fir, while to the north, between Lake Témiscamingue and Lake des Quinze, the presence of more marked agriculture exposes a more humanized countryside landscape. than the Abitibi Plateau. In addition, the presence of Lake Témiscamingue and Lake des Quinze provides magnificent panoramas. Together, these elements constitute, in large part, the specific landscape of Témiscamingue.

The built heritage of Témiscamingue is intrinsically linked to its history of colonization and the exploitation of its natural resources. There are thus traces of colonization, agricultural buildings typical of the region as well as various infrastructures resulting from logging.

Due to its history strongly linked to the exploitation of the territory's resources (agriculture, forestry and timber floating), the settlement of Témiscamingue was mainly established in the north and northwest of the territory. The proximity of the main lakes and rivers, where the agricultural land was the most fertile and where transport was facilitated by the hydrographic network, favored this settlement. Even today, more than 70% of the population of Témiscamingue lives near a large lake or a watercourse.
